Full-colour and spot-colour printing on welded waterproof shells — dry bags, totes, pouches and backpacks.
Custom printed waterproof bags let brands put full-colour artwork, patterns and logos onto welded waterproof shells — turning a functional dry bag, tote or pouch into a branded marketing product. At QUANZHOU JUNYUAN BAGS we print waterproof bags in-house: screen print, full-colour DTF heat-transfer, UV direct print and sewn patches, all applied to TPU/PVC welded shells sealed to IPX6–IPX8. This page covers which print method fits your artwork, how print durability holds up outdoors, and what it costs.
The print method is chosen by your artwork and order volume. The table compares the four we run in-house.
| Method | Artwork | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Screen print | 1–4 spot colours | Low at volume | Logos, promo bags, 5,000+ pcs |
| DTF / heat-transfer | Full colour, gradients | Medium | Patterns, photos, branding |
| UV direct print | Detailed, small logos | Medium | Textured surfaces, low MOQ |
| Woven / leather patch | Emblem, not ink | Higher | Premium outdoor brands |
Printing on TPU/PVC is not like printing on cotton. The surface is non-porous and flexible, so ink must bond to a slippery film and survive folding, flexing, saltwater and UV. Cheap ink cracks and peels within one season. We use outdoor-grade inks and films tested for flexibility and wash resistance, and we cure prints under controlled heat so they flex with the weld rather than sitting on top. We test print samples for scratch and adhesion before bulk.
A chest or lower-corner print is cheapest and reads cleanly. Full-surface (all-over) printing covers the whole bag and delivers maximum brand exposure for campaigns, but costs more and needs careful artwork scaling. We mock up placement on a photo before sampling. For promotional event bags, full-surface DTF is popular; for retail outdoor SKUs, a small chest logo or sewn patch reads as premium.
Our prints are rated for outdoor, saltwater and flex use. To extend print life, rinse saltwater off, avoid abrasive scrubbing on the print, and dry before storage. We can print care instructions on the hangtag. If your brand offers a warranty, tell us the window so we select an ink grade that matches it. We track print-related claims and our overall return rate is below 1.8%.
We print every waterproof format: 5L–10L promotional dry bags, beach totes, phone pouches, cooler backpacks and commuter backpacks. Promotional buyers favour printed 5L dry bags and phone pouches; retail brands favour printed totes and backpacks. See dry bags and totes & backpacks.
MOQ is 500 pcs per design. Samples take 6–10 working days. Print setup (screen film or DTF plate) is included in the sample and quoted transparently. Unit cost depends on print coverage and colour count; one-colour screen print at 5,000+ pcs is the most economical. Read the MOQ guide and how we print.
Prints are checked against your Pantone reference under D65 light every shift. Inks are sourced from suppliers who supply REACH-testable and Prop 65-compliant inks for EU and California markets. Our quality system is ISO 9001:2015-certified and social-compliance audited under amfori BSCI.
Print quality starts with artwork. We prefer vector files (AI, EPS or PDF) with outlined fonts, and Pantone colour references for spot-colour jobs. Raster (JPG/PNG) files work for full-colour DTF but must be high-resolution (300 dpi at print size). If your logo is only a small web file, tell us and we will advise whether it will print sharply at bag size. We produce a digital proof before sampling so you can check placement, scale and colour. Poor artwork is the number one cause of reprints, so we review files early.
| Bag type | Recommended print | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Promotional dry bag | One-colour screen print | Low cost at volume |
| Beach tote | Full-surface DTF | Bold campaign artwork |
| Premium backpack | Woven / leather patch | Premium feel |
| Phone pouch | UV or screen | Small logo, flat surface |
| Cooler backpack | Chest screen print | Durable on textured shell |
Because waterproof bags live outdoors, we test prints for what they will face: flexing as the bag folds, saltwater spray, UV exposure, and abrasion from straps. Our inks are outdoor-grade and cured to flex with the film rather than crack on top. We scratch- and adhesion-test a print sample before bulk. If a print fails in the field, we track the failure mode and adjust ink or cure in the next run. This discipline keeps our overall return rate below 1.8%.
Three things move print cost: colour count (one spot colour is cheapest, full-colour DTF costs more), coverage (a chest print is cheaper than full-surface), and order quantity (setup is spread over more units at 5,000+ pcs). Screen print has a setup cost per colour; DTF has a digital print cost per unit that scales smoothly. We will quote each method so you can compare. For a deeper dive, see how to custom print and private label.
Brand colour consistency is where many printed orders disappoint. We control it three ways. First, fabric and webbing are Pantone-matched to your brand colours. Second, spot-colour prints are mixed to your Pantone reference. Third, every print run is proofed under D65 light — the standard lighting condition for colour judgement — before bulk decoration starts. The same fabric batch approved at sampling is used for bulk, so the print sits on the same substrate across the run. This is why our prints match the approved sample at the end of production, not just at the start. See private label for full brand integration.
| Channel | Printed product | Print style |
|---|---|---|
| Beach / coastal retail | Tote, 5L dry bag | Full-surface DTF |
| Festivals / events | Phone pouch, 5L dry bag | One-colour screen |
| Corporate gifting | Cooler backpack, tote | Deboss + hangtag |
| DTC outdoor brand | Backpack, 20L dry bag | Woven patch |
| Resort / hotel | Phone pouch | Small chest screen |
A coastal retail chain ordered 5,000 waterproof beach totes with full-surface artwork for a summer campaign. We used full-colour DTF on 0.7 mm PVC with a welded roll-down closure. Colour was approved on a printed fabric swatch under D65 light. Bulk shipped in 48 days and sold through the season with a sub-2% return rate. The key to the campaign was approving the print on the actual fabric batch before bulk — the same substrate that printed the sample was used for production. This is why the campaign bags matched the approved proof.
| Method | File needed | Colour |
|---|---|---|
| Screen print | Vector (AI/EPS/PDF) | Pantone spots |
| DTF / heat-transfer | High-res raster 300 dpi or vector | CMYK full colour |
| UV print | Vector or high-res raster | CMYK + white underbase |
| Woven patch | Vector logo, simplified | Woven thread colours |
Send the best file you have; we will tell you if it is print-ready. We produce a digital proof before sampling so you can approve placement and colour risk-free.
Retailers increasingly ask for lower-impact decoration. We offer water-based and low-VOC inks on request, printed onto RPET recycled fabric that can be certified under the Textile Exchange GRS. Because the bag itself is sealed and long-lasting, a printed waterproof bag replaces many disposable plastic bags over its life. We document materials against ISO 14001 principles for ESG-led buyers. If sustainability is part of your brand story, tell us at quoting and we will scope recycled fabric and eco inks.
Many bag factories outsource printing to a third shop. That introduces a handoff: the bag arrives at the printer, the printer does not control the fabric batch, and colour drifts between sample and bulk. We print in-house. The same fabric batch approved at sampling goes straight to our print line, and our print team works to the same D65 colour standard as our QC. This is why printed orders match the approved proof at the end of production. It also shortens lead times — no bag-to-printer-to-bag round trip. If print consistency matters for your brand, ask your supplier where the print happens.
| Placement | Effect | Cost |

A printed waterproof bag is not just a product — it is a walking advertisement. A beach tote carried along the seafront, a dry bag clipped to a kayak, a cooler at a festival: each impression reinforces your brand long after the event ends. That is why event agencies and resort groups order printed bags by the thousand. We match the print to your campaign branding and ship in time for your event date.
MOQ is 500 pcs per design. One-colour screen print is the most economical at volume; full-colour DTF suits artwork with gradients. Setup costs are quoted transparently and spread across the run. Four methods cover almost every brief. Screen print is the most economical at volume for one to four spot colours and bonds hard to PVC and TPU. DTF or heat-transfer film handles full-colour gradients and photographic artwork, which suits promotional campaigns. UV direct print works on textured shells without film setup and suits phone pouches. Woven or embossed patches give the premium hand-finish used by flagship outdoor SKUs. We recommend the method once we see your logo, fabric and quantity.
Yes, because we print and cure for outdoor use rather than for a photo. We use flexible outdoor-grade ink and film cured under controlled heat so the print flexes with the weld instead of cracking on top of it. Before bulk we scratch-test and adhesion-test a print sample and expose it to saltwater spray and abrasion. We check every shift against your Pantone reference under D65 light, and our overall return rate has stayed below 1.8%.
Vector files are best: AI, EPS or PDF with all fonts outlined, plus Pantone references for spot-colour jobs. For full-colour DTF we accept raster JPG or PNG, but it must be 300 dpi at the final print size. If you only have a small web logo, send it anyway and we will tell you honestly whether it scales sharply to bag size. Poor artwork is the top cause of reprints, so we review files and issue a digital proof before sampling.
We colour-match to Pantone references and approve every print against them under standardised D65 lighting each shift, so your red does not drift between the sample and the bulk run. Screen print gives the closest spot-colour match; DTF prints CMYK and gets very close on most artwork, though a neon or metallic Pantone may need a film or foil alternative. We keep a retained reference swatch per order and can send photos before shipment.
